TOR Gaming - Relics

Sunday 30 January 2011 · 0 comments

Here's a quick one for you this Sunday. Above is one of the new models by TOR Gaming, a Sheffield company that have been creating a stitchpunk game based on stuffed toys fighting on tabletops. Over the next few weeks you will be seeing these models more frequently as Hulls Angels have been asked to help with the development and playtesting of the rules. If you would like to know more about Relics which is the name of the game go to http://www.torgaming.co.uk/rd/ and have a look.

Places To Shop?

Wednesday 26 January 2011 · 9 comments

Heres a quick question for you this evening.

We all like to try out new ways to follow our gratest hobby but some times we struggle to get hold of the models and rules sets that we want to try.

How do you my faithful readers get hold of products that you cant buy at the local hobby store? where do you shop? is it online? would you prefer to be able to walk into a local store and buy what you want?

The floor is yours how do you shop and what would be your ideal.

Army Spitlight - Kopta Klan

Sunday 23 January 2011 · 8 comments

I have finally managed to get some images of my Ork Kopta Klan. This army is based on a warbike force but all modelled on deathkopters. I had great fun making it and really enjoy using it when I get the chance. When I put them down on the table I always get a very scared looking opponent. I just need to practice with them now so that I don't get hem all shot to bitsin the first couple of turns. Hope you like.

If anyone has any armies they would like to show off please email me and well discuss it. you can get me at ross@hulls-angels.co.uk

Thursday 20 January 2011 · 0 comments

Ok so here is a little bit more info on our introduction games that are taking place over the next few months. In February we are looking at Flames of War and on Wednesday 23rd February we are having two avid FOW players form Leeds Night Owls popping over to giove us an idea of how the game works.

They are intending to run a number of participation games that evening showing a number of different facets of the game and possibly showing some of us that its a game we should consider for the future.

This intro evening is open to anyone who is interested, so if you fancy giving FOW a go then pop down to the club on 23rd Feb 2011.

Historical Spotlight

Friday 14 January 2011 · 2 comments

A few day ago I was pontificating on the clubs plans for the new year. One of these was introducing new games to our weekly repertoire. Over the next few weeks I will be providing opportunities at the club to try out two of the main competition to GW games.

First of all we will be having a visit from two of the GCN team to show us a lot more about Flames of War and shortly afterwards we will be looking at Warmachine and how that is played with some ofthe clubs members who play it.

Dates are not cnfirmed as yet but I should have something for you next week.

Army Spotlight - Dark Eldar

Sunday 9 January 2011 · 2 comments

I started getting into the 40K gaming when I was about 12-13 years old. I had been playing D&D and Judge Dread for those that can remember it , I happened to walk past a model shop and noticed a boxed set of metal Blood Claws in the window. From that moment on I was hooked, I'm now almost 36 years on this earth so I've been collecting armies for along time. But until recently thats all I have done, collected, painted but not really played games with them. I've attended a few Throne of Skulls Tournies but never did really well at them, finishing at the bottom tables, but I still had a very enjoyable weekend in GW HQ. Thats what made me decide to find a local club, hence me joining Hulls-Angels.
Armies wise I have Space Marines of the Storm Templars Chapter (my own chapter), Hive Fleet Hydra, Necrons, Tau, Orks (unpainted), Eldar and I have just started painting my Dark Eldar.

I have been waiting so long for GW to bring out the new DE Codex and I must say that they have not disappointed me. The new models are great, very detailed and a real pleasure to paint.
I decided to paint them in the colours of the Obsidian Rose Kabal, which for me really stood out from the usual norm of DE painting. After a few test models I finally managed to get the colour scheme that I was happy with.

Collecting wise I tend to go for what models I really like the look of, and build the army up from there. This doesnt always work on the battlefield, but army wise I dont like spamming the same units over and over again, this for me doesnt make for a very enjoyable game.

Here are a few pictures of my force, most arent fully finished as RL issues and work have managed to get in the way again.

I like to play relaxed games as I'm still trying to learn the basics. Everybody at the club has been very welcoming and helped me feel right at home.

Thanks for reading

Club News - ways to pay

Wednesday 5 January 2011 · 0 comments

As of this week we are looking at giving you access every time we are open for a starting price of £15.

This means that you can come 5 times a week or 20 times a month for less than 50% of the cost it would normally cost if you paid per session.

Concessions for students and the unemployed will still be given a discount of 33% and will pay £10 per month.
You can pay this money in cash every month or you can set up a standing order to our bank account. Just talk to one of the committee to get this information.
This is the way we will be taking payment from January onwards if you have any questions please go to the section on the forum regarding payment or speak to one of us next week.

Thanks

Army Spotlight - New Years Resolution

Saturday 1 January 2011 · 1 comments

To continue our series of club armies I thought I would show off some of the work that I have done on a single model that would flatten most forces in a couple of turns, assuming I knew what I was doing with it.

The images that you can see below are pf my scratch built Warlord Titan. I ahve been working on this for about three years on and off but with other real life requirements to my time I have done very little in the last 12 months.

So I have a resolution for you by this time next year I will be showing you a completed model. Now this may be an unpainted model but it will be built never the less.

So here is my promise to you, from this point on I will finish this model by next new year. By all means ask any questions you wish.

If you would like to see more images of the creation process from the start follow the link to my old blog . http://www.emperorstarot.blospot.com/
